Abstract

Introduction: Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract represent a wide variety of disorders that come from abnormal renal development processes. They constitute a group of diseases of high clinical prevalence and cause of chronic kidney disease.

Objective: To relate congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract according to abnormal development and associated factors in patients admitted to the "Eduardo Agramonte Piña" provincial pediatric hospital in Camagüey from July 2010 to December 2019.

Method: A cross-sectional analytical study was carried out in 306 children from Camagüey. The techniques of: chi square and correlation coefficients were used.

Results: The associated factors were preterm delivery in the group due to anomalies in the development of the collecting system; arterial hypertension and prescribed drugs predominated in all groups of anomalies. Family history of congenital defects prevailed in the group due to anomalies in the development of the collecting system. Risk factors with a significant correlation predominated in the groups due to anomalies in the development of the collecting system.

Conclusion: Knowledge of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract according to abnormal renal development and associated factors will have a favorable impact on the quality of life of the patient, family and society.
